"Keeping Your Girls In Check" will be offered to Aboriginal communities within close proximity of the city of Kamloops and the Shuswap region.  "Keeping Your Girls in Check" is a program to encourage and teach Aboriginal women of all ages the importance of Breast Health.

pink-ribbonWe Wish to promote cultural sensitivity and incorporate traditionalteachings which will support and encourage women to participate in selfexamination and screening programs.

Our goal is to promote intergenerational experiences for elders toshare with their youth their knowledge and stories of ancient BreastHealth.

The focus of the "Keeping Your Girls In Check" project is to promote Breast Health and a positive image of the breast. The program encourages women to own and embrace their physical selves through culturally sensitive
programming.

Target Group:

  1. Women aged 14-75.

Population:

  1. All 16 First Nation Bands in the Secwepemc Nation.

Community Need:

  1. Currently, there are no programs that directly address breast health for Aboriginal women.
